If you ask yourself 'Why should I donate?', here some decision guidance:
- Software doesn't grow on trees
- Service and support cost a lot of time and a private project is very limited when it comes to time and use.
- Software development tools as for example MS Visual FoxPro 9,
that is needed for the VFP Data Converter, costs
NEW 900,- EUR (1160,- US$) (the Import-Version costs
700,- EUR (900,- US$); the Student-Version costs 145,- EUR (185,- US$)
but there are License issues, so you have to have the full version)
If you don't believe me here a german webshop (foxshop.de): Visual FoxPro 9 price
900,- US$ are a lot of money since it is only used for freeware products and where each user can also get the result of month of work for free (the sourcecode)!
- You should also think of the fact that a Software development company normally has to pay thousands of EUR/US$ for this software (Totals between 1000-100000 are normal)
- You would honor the author for the hours worked
- You would motivate the author to continue to improve the project
- and so on
